Scientists have successfully created an artifical womb
Scientists have shown that it's now possible to nurture lambs in late stages of gestation inside an artificial womb. In a few years, this technology could prove to be lifesaver for premature human babies.
The eight fetal lambs were in what look big plastic bags with tubes of fluid going into it. Over four weeks, the lambs lungs and brains grew, they sprouted wool, opened their eyes and learned to swallow. It's pretty incredible but it does remind me of that scene in The Matrix.
It’s both amazing and terrifying to imagine a world where artificial wombs grow babies. Maybe in the future, women can order their babies like they order an item on Amazon. It's like a science fiction movie.
