Babestation Came to Freeview. A History Lesson.
The Babestation girls who had become favourites of the nighttime Freeview live babeshow were suddenly much harder to obtain for the terrestrial viewer when Party Girls ended their run on Channel 46 in March 2009. They did continue to appear on the 3am Party People show, but that was a very late start and a distinct concept from Party Girls because Party People was still primarily a daytime babeshow. Even Partyland's recent entry could not truly make up for the loss of Party Girls. The most live babes on Babestation had been introduced to viewers through Party Girls, and they wanted them back. In fact, some Freeview babe channel viewers even went out and bought a Sky subscription just for Babestation.
However, a full version of Babestation had been promised to the terrestrial public a few weeks after Party Girls ended. Not a low-bandwidth broadcast with a temporary set like the Channel 46 show this time. Not a show where the bit rate couldn't handle it and the females' every move became pixelated. No light viewing glass, no bulky surround for the screen. This was going to be a full-screen broadcast that was being filmed on a large, expensive set with all the bells and whistles, including video insets. This was going to be Babestation, not Babestation lite, a full balls to bone babeshow, this was Babestation 1.
In May ‘09, a new channel duly appeared on the Freeview EPG. Even though there were no listings visible, the fun was about to begin on Channel 33, which had the recognisable name Smile TV2 (the same as the former Channel 46).
On May 13, just after midnight, Babestation's complete version made its Freeview debut and introducing the show? It could only be the Babestation It-girl and Babecast star Donna Duke, who was still on the mic waving off Channel 46 viewers when Party Girls abruptly came to an end two months ago due to the closing graphics routine. Geri and Megan Moore (another Babecast alumni) joined Donna on the momentous broadcast.
Donna Duke put on a crimson outfit to begin her second Freeview segment. The first opening title sequence for Babestation Freeview show included well known babeshow babes Dionne Mendez, Morgan Preece, Camilla Jayne, Donna Duke, and Jemma Jey (in that order), and it was in place until late August of 2009.
